The new Reischmann in Kempten – Industrial look meets nature
A sports and fashion store opened in Kempten on 15 September after just five months renovation, combining modern design with an authentic atmosphere.
The Kempten store in Bahnhofstraße, is the second branch of the Reischmann company group in Kempten. This new store combines a sports environment and fashionable style in one unit spanning a total sales floor of 5,200 m2. This successful interaction is part of the concept by the architects and interior designers at Blocher Blocher Partners, Stuttgart, who have also designed other Reischmann projects.
The three-storey shop window offers modern showcases, with eye-catching merchandise displays and huge photos of sports enthusiasts. The previous dark, covered doorways have been replaced by modern, inviting entrances which welcome customers and passers-by. The distinct appearance of the external façade also forms the framework for the interior design. Plain industrial materials, such as cement and screed, can be found on all floors and unite the different sports and fashion ranges with their creative expression. Huge sports illustrations on the walls give the store emotional depth.
The store concept is minimalistic and is contrasted by individual island displays on all floors. Some of these worlds emphasise the industrial look with modern materials and grid elements. Others create an authentic connection with Kempten and the Allgäu region. A real mountain top feeling is created for example by a stylised ski hut with a cosy fireside, also made from mature timber from the region. Another highlight is formed by the 22 metre high climbing wall with a natural-looking cliff structure which spans the entire height of the building. A sporty lifestyle is thus conveyed firsthand.
The connecting element throughout all the worlds is the new shopfitting system Choices by Visplay. A grid system, made of struts, which converts entire walls into flexible merchandise display areas. Items can therefore always be displayed where they are optically and thematically suited. The most interesting fact is that the system is made from innovative wood-plastic composites WPC and is thus not just resistant but also has an excellent life cycle assessment. This reflects the natural environment requested by Reischmann.
Nature is also present in another recurring element: display furniture made of mature timber and black steel. The units have an identical design throughout the store but each are individually fitted with natural materials such as bark or stones.
